My favorite thing about gmail is that when I’m reading an email that’s bizarre in it’s composition I get these wonderful suggestions from Google. Tonight as I was corresponding with a couple friends about the sarcastic sense of humor that my 7 year old has I noticed a link in my gmail for the children’s book, “Why Mommy is a Democrat”. So if anyone out there gets me for their Secret Santa I’m hoping to get this. (I’m sorta kidding. Although I’d love to read this just to see what it says that is so ‘heartwarming’. There are a couple questions that have risen for me from this.
First off why squirrels. Really. As a Democratic Mom I don’t seem to identify with squirrels. Especially RED squirrels. I’ve shot at red squirrels before. Is there anything scarier than a gun toting, liberal democratic single Mom? Nope. I don’t think so.
Secondly. Do we really need to read this sort of stuff to our kids. Is it really that important. I didn’t know that my parents were Democrats until I was probably 24. And honestly, before then it really wouldn’t have mattered much anyway.
In conclusion, I think the companion book should be titled. “Why Daddy is a Republican”. I think that biparty romantic pairings are so HOT!
